On Saturday, April 26, 2025, a joyful celebration of Filipino heritage turned into a heartbreaking tragedy.
During the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver, a car drove into a crowd around 8:00 PM, resulting in the loss of 11 lives, including a five-year-old child, and injuring at least 20 others.
The Vancouver and Filipino-Canadian communities are now mourning this devastating loss, and Fil-Am FEST Inc. stands in deep solidarity with them during this time of grief.
As an organization rooted in faith, service, and community, Fil-Am FEST Inc. offers our heartfelt prayers to the victims, their families, the organizers, and everyone affected by this tragedy.
We mourn alongside them, lifting them up in prayer and trusting in God’s comfort and strength to sustain all those who are hurting.
We invite our community, and all who share a heart for compassion, to join us in fervent prayer — for healing, for hope, and for the comforting presence of God to surround the Vancouver community.
Now more than ever, we are reminded that faith, unity, and love are stronger than sorrow.
As we continue preparations for Fil-Am Spring Fest 2025, we affirm that the safety and well-being of all attendees remain our highest priority.
Fil-Am FEST Inc. has a public safety and emergency plan already in place and is working closely with Fair Oaks Mall Security, Fairfax County Police Department, Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department, and first responders to create a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Through prayer, preparation, and partnership, we move forward — honoring our shared heritage, supporting one another, and holding firmly to hope.
We continue to lift the Vancouver community in prayer and commit ourselves to fostering unity, compassion, and healing in every way we can.
